Blue Nu IV, produced in 1952 in the Régina workshop, is part of a set of four cut-out gouache compositions, the Blue Nudes series. Compared to the other three, Nu bleu IV is worked on over time while Nus Bleus I, II and III are executed with a single stroke of the scissors.
