The Starry Night is a painting by the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. The painting represents what Van Gogh could see and extrapolate from the room he occupied in the asylum of the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole monastery in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in May 1889.
